Skinning In Call Of Duty

Skinning has become a part of many games. In Call of Duty it is very easy to download skins and make a mod where the skins work, but it is somewhat difficult to get them to work in normal games. I will tell you how to make and use skins in servers. I use GIMP because gimp is free and Photoshop costs a lot of money. For those reasons I will be writing this with GIMP in mind.

In order to use the files that come with CoD4 as the weapons you will need several programs The first two are used to convert the .iwi files to .dds so that they can be used.

In order for GIMP to use .dds files you must first install a plug-in for GIMP.

To install a plug-in into GIMP go to the path on your computer and put the plug-in into the folder

Windows ----> C:\Document and Settings\\.gimp-\plug-ins\

To enable skins in multi player make a backup of the main folder on your desktop rename the files as follows in the original main folder:

iw_00 to localized_english_aa.iwd
iw_01 to localized_english_aab.iwd
iw_02 to localized_english_aac.iwd
iw_03 to localized_english_aad.iwd
iw_04 to localized_english_aae.iwd
iw_05 to localized_english_aaf.iwd
iw_06 to localized_english_aag.iwd
iw_07 to localized_english_aah.iwd
iw_08 to localized_english_aai.iwd
iw_09 to localized_english_aaj.iwd
iw_10 to localized_english_aak.iwd
iw_11 to localized_english_aal.iwd
iw_12 to localized_english_aam.iwd
iw_13 to localized_english_aan.iwd

Make a new archive with 7-zip/Winzip and call it localized_english_aw07.iwi
in localized_english_aw07.iwi make a folder called images

in the folder you made called images is where you will be the skins that you made
